A lot of Tumblr feminism angers me, as it is often casual, unsubstantiated, unconcerned with ‘academic’ deconstruction and too concerned with  terms and meanings (“I am this type of feminism, this type of feminism is not good for feminism, this is wrong for feminism”, et al).

It is also largely why I see feminism, in a Western context, as a Western societal construct, and in the postmodern era, as meaningless. As a blanket term/concept for all aspects of women’s rights, its many (too many) ideologies, or meanings, ultimately render any sense of its ‘essence’ meaningless.

As my favourite dude Baudrillard would say, “when everything is oversignified, meaning itself becomes impossible to grasp”.

(and so what I’m saying is, angry feminists on tumblr, fucking stop. stop with the definitions. stop with what is right or wrong. stop with the yelling. stop everything. and also maybe pick up a nice book by baudrillard and see that feminism, like everything in the postmodern age, is really pointless and meaningless)

Funny that I always saw photos of this being reblogged and never knew what it was and then just stumbled upon it one day in Qibao (and it’s pretty much the only thing Qibao has to offer), which is like 10 mins from where my papa lives.
Also it’s funny looking at other people’s travel photos and realising that they took more or less the same route/journey/whatever as you and maybe even had the same experiences/feelings as you and individuality invariably becomes a tired and insignificant concept/societal construction.
